I myself am not a fan of the open office concept with small exceptions. It can be used productively if there is mutual respect for the other workers sharing the space, and a basic sense of responsibility to one’s own work ethic and human dignity. I’ve seen it work on a small scale, but not without glitches of its own. A large scale implementation would require an immense anoint of employee on-boarding and dedication to still provide access to private areas without repercussions for seeking them. I just understand there are people who require more space and quiet to focus, and concentrate productively, and I’m one of them.
