Marine’s parents sued over sign of support in their front yard | NOLA.com.

“The Burrs placed a large multicolored banner with a picture of their 20-year-old son, Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Corey Burr, and the phrase “Our son defends our freedom” in January after Corey Burr was deployed to Afghanistan.

Jodi Burr says her family will fight the suit and do not intend to remove the sign.

An attorney representing the association, declined to comment.

The Burrs contend signs supporting a school or team are visible throughout the neighborhood.”

I wonder what the sign looks like.  I personally wouldn’t ever really put something with my son’s name on it in my front lawn and don’t entirely understand why people would do that, but it sounds like they’re just showing support to their son in the best way they know how.  It will be interesting to see what comes of this.

    “violated subdivision covenants”…

I don’t see what’s at issue here, or why it’s interesting. A little squabble between a homeowner’s association and a homeowner? Seriously?

Thoughts?
