Hidden cameras expose privacy problem in a Macy’s fitting rooms | wtsp.com.

“A 10 News undercover investigation revealed customers may be revealing more than expected at Macy’s stores all across the country.  While it’s illegal to secretly videotape inside fitting rooms in Florida, Macy’s manages its loss-prevention by installing their privacy doors backward.

That means that any employee – or customer – standing up against the door can see inside.  But the person getting changed cannot see out.”

What the heck!  This is incredibly unethical, particularly because they weren’t telling the customers that this was the case!  If there were announcements about something like “Macy’s reserves the right to observe it’s customers at all times, including dressing room use”, there would have been an outrage.  Pretty good sign that it’s not acceptable.

My gosh.

I’m always suspicious of fitting room and rarely try stuff on. I’m even more suspicious of public restrooms and try to avoid them at all cost.

    I agree.

    Very wrong and unethical.

I’m also suspicious of dressing rooms.

I try hard to avoid them as well but sometimes it is impossible when buying clothes.

I guess it is a necessary evil.

wrong! plain and simple. google macys peeping tom and see how easy they have made it for a man to go undetected into a female fitting room and record … shame on them for allowing this to happen
